The Anna Hazare Movement continued slowly and gradually, unnoticed. But soon it bacame a bite for everyone's mouth including public and media. News, "Hazare announcing his fast" spread rapidly to every city, town and village. News within hours became a public event. People from all over the country protested against the "Jan Lok Pal Bill". They critised the authorities walking with the candles over the streets, forwarding sms and expressing their support to the movement against corruption. It all seems to be what people must have dreamt over the past years and decades, that is "Raising their voices against Corruption". The reason that I've mentioned it as a dream is that this time the crowd was peacefull, well-behaved and not a single violent incident was reported. Infact, rather than a dream I should call it as a "Beautifull Dream" that has now shown its worth in reality. The whole Movement was actually "respectable". This time students, doctors and people from the middle classes came forward to sit with an elderly man who was willing to die for them.


"The 'Sab Neta Chor Hain' mentality is dangerous. A country that hates its elected politicians soon begin to hate democracy itself." - A well quoted line by a tabloid.


"Anna Hazare Movement is not against Corruption but a kind of Democracy that is a closed shop of tycoons and family scions"

Not to forget the "Jessica Murder Case" which is yet another example where the general public showed its worth and criticised the Jurisdiction marching with candles at India Gate and all over the streets, forwarded messages via emails and sms and stood together for justice.
No doubt, that in both these cases media played a vital role in spreading awareness about the issues and the current state of the country, acting as a third party between the government and the general public.
Yes this is a Beautiful Dream which each single cell in the country dreams of. That is:
                                             "Clean, Educated and Democratic India"
We can say that the Golden Bird is at the Verge of spreading its Wings.

Who is Anna Hazare?

Anna Hazare (full name: Kisan Bapat Baburao Hazare) is a soldier, lone survivor in his unit in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Anna dedicated his life to the well being of the society. He is especially recognized for his contribution to the development of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra and his efforts for establishing it as a model village. He is a bachelor, with no possessions, no bank balance and lives in a temple. He has fasted on several earlier occasions to dismiss the corrupt ministers and officers.

What is the Jan Lokpal Bill ?

The Jan Lokpal bill is a draft anti-corruption bill which will have the power to prosecute politicians and bureaucrats without government permission. The Jan Lokpal Bill is designed to create an effective anti-corruption and grievance redressal systems and to assure that an effective deterrent is created against corruption and to provide effective protection to whistleblowers.

The bill was drafted by Justice Santosh hegde, Prashant bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal.

The salient features of Jan Lokpal bill:

• An institution called Lokpal at the centre and Lokayukta in each state will be setup.
• Like supreme court and Election commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.
• Cases against corrupt people will not go on for years. In any case, the investigation has to be completed within a year.
• The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.
• If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.
• What happens if the Government appoints corrupt people as Lokpal members? – That wont be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and authorities through a completely transparent process.
• What if some Lokpal members becomes corrupt? – That wont be possible because the entire functioning of the Lokpal will be transparent.
