The Incredible India

India, the land of Gods. A land where people of various religions and cultures live and experience a vast range of colours and shades ever since its existence. A country which took place in the world map and has its own unique identity has bagged the title 'The Golden Bird' in its ancient history.

This Golden Bird, however, is believed to have a royal past where huge kingdom, beautiful palaces, magic and immense wealth in the form of gold (which signifies Goddess Lakshmi) existed. A land which also embraced Himalayas and the purest river Ganga in its arms. India is surely a land where even stones are worshipped. Trees, mountains, rivers, temples, sun, earth, moon, animals are treated as the various forms of God and are worshipped whole heartedly. A land which is believed where Lord Ram and Lord Krishna and various other Gods have taken 'avatars' and have played several 'leelas' in order to discriminate between good and evil.

Centuries later, the country took the form where emprerors like Ashoka The Great, Akbar The Great, Shahjahan and many others ruled and gave the country a new direction and identity. But soon the land of dreams lost its well being and was invaded by Britishers slowly and gradually due to the 'Divide and Rule' policy, which unknowingly existed among the ruling leaders itself. Soon the visitors/ traders became the rulers and  former leaders ran away for shades. People from outside looted the country's wealth whole handedly and this was when the land with the golden charm, The Golden Bird, became a poor country. People became slaves and longed for food and shelter and often died due to poverty.

As time passed by, people became habitual but still there were some people who were constantly trying hard to get rid of the invaders and make the people a part of a free democratic nation. Several methods were employed, many plannings were made, both violent and non-violent in nature. Many people lost their lives in this fight for the nation.The time was really critical and harsh.

There was no hope until leaders like Bhagat singh, Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Mahatma Gandhi et.al came and shook the country with their ideas and strength. They aroused a hope in the minds of the people of a rising sun. People united under their influence, raise their voices which made the Britishers leave the country soon. Thus The Golden Bird became a free bird again, a democratic country, India, which celebrates its Independence Day every year on 15th August since 1947, and those brave leaders, the mortal beings, bacame immortal in the History of this land.

Since then, the country is spreading its wings and giving a tough comptetion to the world. Rest countries are well aware of the immense power that resides in India i.e, The Youth Power. Today, India's youth is participating in each and every field and are raising their flags of victory, be it education, business, sports, music, media or health. 

Through this, it all seems to be a fairy tale but its not exactly so. Population, pollution, corruption, politicians, child labour, child marriage, and above all, terrorism like worms are eating away the country's prosperity and peace and making the nation ill irrespective of the various efforts that are being applied to cure these killing and painful diseases. But the good news is, more and more people are taking interest in these various issues day by day and are actively participating in the various attempts made in order to just delete their existence for ever. Here the check is, this is only the starting, a initial phase, which requires more efforts from a lot more people.

Here, through this article I want to mention one thing that there are always good and bad times. Somewhere God has made sure that if kindness exists, there also exists evil. If God exists, devils also have their existence, in order to make them differentiable (I guess).

However, we people (in India especially) in our tough times wait for our 'Taaranhaars', the one who will relieve us from all our sufferings, but we forget that in some way or the other that 'Taaranhaar' exists within us. The only thing that matters is when we REALISE it.

    

 

                                         








   



   

Is The Fight So Easy??

The 'relay hunger strike' of Anna Hazare, and his ideas, strength & his fight for a corruption-free India has definitely made him a hero among the citizens of India, especially among the youngsters, whom he gave a direction and the so-called inspiration to live their lives with a motive. A motive of not only to search jobs or settle down in business to earn a living for them and their families and secure their future, but also to speak for their rights and even fight for them under odd circumstances. A motive to plan a secure and a bright future not only for them but also for this NEW-YOUNG-INDIA.

But as I suppose, this hunger strike part was a bit easy one. Why do we expect the Parliament to vote for such a bill if Hazare is right in saying that "many of the members of this group of Ministers have such a shady past that if effective anti-corruption systems had been in place some of them would have been behind the bars."
These politicians raise their economic situations a lot after entering the politics, expand their business and use the public fund for their own personal benifits. A/c to the statistics, UP is probably worse then the rest of the country.
What do we expect from the Parliament, when more than half of the members are likely to go behind the bars if any such bill gets passed?
We all know that the elections are expensive. Around Rs.5 crores were expended in an election and that for a seat in one of the poorest states of the country. But here, the ideal question is.. where this money comes from?
A newspaper was quoted as saying- "Legislators are expected by their parties to do their best to raise money through Extra-LEGAL means, both for themselves, and their more squeamish colleagues. Is it so surprising then that some of the money ended up in their pockets?"
Is it not correct?

As I mentioned earliar that the hunger strike part was a bit easier, because Anna himself is now been accused of some public sayings and some forgotten details. A/c to an Inquiry Report of 2005, Hazare had been found guilty of corruption, as he spent Rs. 2.2 lakhs of the Hindu Swaraj Trust, headed by him, on a birthday party. Ofcourse it was wrong. But does that make him a corrupt leader all through his life?  Would it be correct to call him a 'fraud' for the rest of his life?
Secondly, Hazare admitted that "The ordinary voter does not have awarenes... they don't understand the value of their vote." This might give an impression that he is a firm believer that India should not be a democracy. But if we think otherwise, is he lying? Aren't the voters being taken away by offering them gifts?

The fight against such corruption is not easy... infact the fight against the Group Of these Political Leaders is not easy. This is where the people of India are required to take up a Motive. A Motive to come forward and raise their voices against the injustice that is being inferred upon us by some Politically Incorrect people. Ofcourse, fight for the rights doesn't mean one should go out to the streets and fight or sit down for a strike everytime. All I mean to say is that  we all can contribute a lot by standing together in such high times and moreover, let us make more and more people be aware of the situations(at least), in whatever way we can.

The Anna Hazare Movement continued slowly and gradually, unnoticed. But soon it bacame a bite for everyone's mouth including public and media. News, "Hazare announcing his fast" spread rapidly to every city, town and village. News within hours became a public event. People from all over the country protested against the "Jan Lok Pal Bill". They critised the authorities walking with the candles over the streets, forwarding sms and expressing their support to the movement against corruption. It all seems to be what people must have dreamt over the past years and decades, that is "Raising their voices against Corruption". The reason that I've mentioned it as a dream is that this time the crowd was peacefull, well-behaved and not a single violent incident was reported. Infact, rather than a dream I should call it as a "Beautifull Dream" that has now shown its worth in reality. The whole Movement was actually "respectable". This time students, doctors and people from the middle classes came forward to sit with an elderly man who was willing to die for them.


"The 'Sab Neta Chor Hain' mentality is dangerous. A country that hates its elected politicians soon begin to hate democracy itself." - A well quoted line by a tabloid.


"Anna Hazare Movement is not against Corruption but a kind of Democracy that is a closed shop of tycoons and family scions"

Not to forget the "Jessica Murder Case" which is yet another example where the general public showed its worth and criticised the Jurisdiction marching with candles at India Gate and all over the streets, forwarded messages via emails and sms and stood together for justice.
No doubt, that in both these cases media played a vital role in spreading awareness about the issues and the current state of the country, acting as a third party between the government and the general public.
Yes this is a Beautiful Dream which each single cell in the country dreams of. That is:
                                             "Clean, Educated and Democratic India"
We can say that the Golden Bird is at the Verge of spreading its Wings.

Who is Anna Hazare?

Anna Hazare (full name: Kisan Bapat Baburao Hazare) is a soldier, lone survivor in his unit in the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Anna dedicated his life to the well being of the society. He is especially recognized for his contribution to the development of Ralegan Siddhi, a village in Parner taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra and his efforts for establishing it as a model village. He is a bachelor, with no possessions, no bank balance and lives in a temple. He has fasted on several earlier occasions to dismiss the corrupt ministers and officers.

What is the Jan Lokpal Bill ?

The Jan Lokpal bill is a draft anti-corruption bill which will have the power to prosecute politicians and bureaucrats without government permission. The Jan Lokpal Bill is designed to create an effective anti-corruption and grievance redressal systems and to assure that an effective deterrent is created against corruption and to provide effective protection to whistleblowers.

The bill was drafted by Justice Santosh hegde, Prashant bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal.

The salient features of Jan Lokpal bill:

• An institution called Lokpal at the centre and Lokayukta in each state will be setup.
• Like supreme court and Election commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.
• Cases against corrupt people will not go on for years. In any case, the investigation has to be completed within a year.
• The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.
• If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.
• What happens if the Government appoints corrupt people as Lokpal members? – That wont be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and authorities through a completely transparent process.
• What if some Lokpal members becomes corrupt? – That wont be possible because the entire functioning of the Lokpal will be transparent.
